Be bold and spend more time in the cold

I know what you’re thinking right now. “Spending more time in the cold? Are you crazy or delusional?!” Well, that’s a possibility but it hasn’t been proven so I guess that I’m pretty fine. I just like to go out of my comfort zone and that’s something that most people don’t like to do. I like to push things to the limit since, in the end, nobody knows what he’s capable of. But most people hardly use 1% percent of their whole potential. That’s a pretty sad realization if you ask me. Most people realize that they had a lot more potential just before they die. Must be like facing hell.

Anyways I’m the crazy guy who mostly goes swimming when it’s cold or train shirtless when it’s freezing (it was -4°C or 24.8 °F on the picture above). I just like to be a cold warrior instead of a warm worrier and I advise you to do the same.

Endure the cold: it’s all about mental toughness.

Can you guess what happens when you get inside of cold water? Your body gets ‘s into some kind of shock, your heart rate goes up and you start to breathe heavily. You start to think and you just want to get out. I had this later when I decided to do some cold water recovery after training on a beach. Trust me, cold showers are easy but there in the open it’s a whole different game since I was standing still in the water. My whole body felt like it was on fire. I eventually got out and was like “fuck I should be able to do this. Where did I go wrong?! I’ve already done this before” I decided to give it another shot the next week. It was even colder than but I didn’t want to give in. I was determined to stay in the water for at least 5 minutes (it turned into 8).

All the same, things happened but this time I just started focusing on my breath and I relaxed. I was like “I got this” and then I smiled.

Sound fun but why should I do it?

Well, the reason why should be pretty simple. You know the effects when you get into the cold water (higher heart rate and so on). People who can stay in the water have control over all of this. This is a superpower if you ask me since you have complete control over your body.  You can control your feelings and emotions. Just look at most people. They can’t control their feeling and emotions. Some even have anger outbursts and that’s why I call it a superpower. It makes you calm like a bomb.

Give it a try and you might like it. Don’t go cold water swimming at first though. Start with cold showers and build your way up. Read my whole guide here on how I did it. Trust me on this one, there’s nothing like going out of your comfort zone. There’s nothing greater than pushing your limits. Put yourself in uncomfortable situations and you’ll soon realize that you’ll be comfortable in unexpected uncomfortable situations.

Don’t forget to check out my book. The ones who read it liked it.
