Recently, I read an interesting substack by Chris Wojcik (read his substack here). He sold an idea many people have sold before. Most professional athletes are told to become entrepreneurs if they want to do the sport full-time
I agree with this take but… there was a crucial piece he didn’t mention. Yet he did it himself.
Make sure your entrepreneurial business makes your life easier, not harder. Let me explain.
The Athlete And The Entrepreneur
When thinking about taking this path, the most important thing is making sure you have undeniable skills in an area related to your sport. This makes your life easier but also makes it easier to network and find clients if you do coaching.
I thought about this a couple of years ago while training Muay Thai. I could have either picked Strength and conditioning or nutrition to study. It would benefit my training regardless. I eventually picked nutrition because I was always interested in it and have been studying it since I was 19.
This led me to be involved in many weight cuts where I didn’t make any money. I just helped people for free so they didn’t have to suffer using the Thai weight cut method.
That was me getting the reps in and putting the theory in practice. Something many people skip entirely. They know the theory but miss the practical knowledge. So their clients are basically paying guinea pigs coached by ChatGPT. What could go wrong?
Anyways, back to the subject. At one point in time, one of my training partners was so happy with his easy weight cut he paid me. He told me I should start coaching people. After I got certified, I did.
Being in charge of my own nutrition/weight cuts makes my life a lot easier.
This also led me to collaborate with Jack Krucial on a piece about nutrition. In this piece we covered how to prepare your body properly for a weight cut without killing yourself in the process.
In conclusion: chase 2 rabbits and you’ll catch none. Make sure your entrepreneurial endeavours align with your training and your life will become easier, not harder.
This principle is exactly why I focus on nutrition coaching.
A Case For Nutrition Coaching
Recently, one of my training partners (his Instagram) started copying my nutrition. He was able to do this because we’re exactly the same weight. After two weeks he sent me this.
His quality of training went up but his body composition also changed. He did look leaner after 2 weeks.

Now imagine that level of consistency over three months.
This is what alignment looks like in practice: better training quality, improved body composition, and zero added stress.
Nutrition Coaching
Over the years, I’ve helped fighters heal their metabolism, lose weight effectively, and fuel their bodies for peak performance. If you’re struggling with weight loss, underperforming due to poor nutrition, or dealing with a damaged metabolism, DM me “nutrition” on Instagram to get started.
In my 3-month coaching program, I’ll guide you through:
- Healing your metabolism.
- Losing weight sustainably without burnout.
- Learning how to fuel for performance when maintaining and losing weight.
- Cutting weight safely for a fight (only for fighters).
I only take 3 clients every 3 months.
If this resonates, DM me “nutrition” on Instagram.
Until next time.
