Recently, I got the question: Does nutrition matter for a local/amateur fight?
The reasoning was that not a lot was at stake, so maybe I’d matter less.
Well, let me ask you this. Would you show up at a race with a car that has only half the tank filled with gas while the other guy has a full tank?
Doesn’t seem like a fair race, right?
The same goes for a fight. Conditioning is only a part of the equation. Nutrition is what keeps you going during a fight.
Nutrition determines whether you can push through or fade in the latter rounds.
Sounds familiar? Ever gassed or faded in the latter rounds despite having had the perfect camp?
That is because you had the wrong nutrition strategy on fight day.
You can check out my Instagram post where I break down what I ate on fight day.
For fight day, the following principles apply:
- High carbs
- Low fat
- moderate protein
- low fiber
- food that digests easily
- eat multiple times
Most fighters don’t eat enough carbs.
So they don’t notice the problem.
Until it’s too late.
I can help you.
I work with fighters and serious hobbyists to build nutrition plans that support performance across every phase of camp.
I work with a small number of fighters each camp to build weight-cut and recovery protocols that actually work.
If you have a fight booked or you’re training with intent, you can sign up on Gumroad or message me directly.
Until next time
