The prison fight series: how I fought in Thai prison part 3.

By July 30, 2025 No Comments

There is also a shorter version that covers the whole experience (read it here).

Let’s dive into it, almost 2 years after I finished part 2.

What was I allowed to keep after the prison fight?

Post-fight they told us that the prison would review the tape and the pictures and release it once they found it suited for the public. Besides a handful of pictures, I’ve never seen anything get released. The footage remains behind closed doors to this day. Which is sad since there was a whole camera crew there to record it all plus a professional photographer.

The only things I have from that whole experience are the memories, the fight shorts, and a picture of the poster. Aside from that, nothing. Which is kind of surreal if you ask me. It’s like it never happened.

What about the BBC documentary?

I’m actually not sure which company they were representing. I heard Netflix, BBC, and Discovery Channel. I honestly have no clue if the documentary ever got released. They had the right idea, but the day of the fight they were complaining about how difficult the prison was about releasing the footage.

This might’ve become one of those projects that never saw the light of day.

Life goes on, as they say. I think at this point no one has a clue what happened to that whole production crew. “I also suspect most people couldn’t care less

How it affected my career.

It did affect my career a bit, but not that much. The performance in the prison fight landed me an opportunity to fight at Radjadamnern. It was obviously on a smaller promotion. But me opening the card at Radja was something to tick off the list. That performance was one of the best of my career. But it didn’t move the needle that much.

If anything, people are more interested in the whole experience rather than the fight.

So that is what it turned into exactly. A cool memory to look back on once in a while.

Because in the end, how many people go inside a Thai prison to have a Muay Thai fight?

Not that many.

Worth it? Absolutely. But once was more than enough
