How social media is killing your happiness/self-esteem.

Social media is killing your happiness and your self-esteem. How about that? I'm not big on social media, to be honest. I even avoid it most of the times, I barely even text. Sure I've got Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter but I have those things to support this blog.

Social media is killing your happiness and self-esteem. How about that? I’m not big on social media, to be honest. I even avoid it most of the time, I barely even text. Sure I’ve got Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter but I have those things to support this blog. Most people spend hours on social media and they seem to like it. But do they? They’re wasting a lot of precious time that could be invested in other more useful stuff. I’m pretty sure that it’s an unfulfilled life. But who am I to judge? You can do whatever you want. I’m just here to share my perspective. It’s up to you to love or hate it. So social media is killing your self- esteem, happiness and even your relationship?! Let’s find out.

Social media kills your self- esteem.

People who spend a lot of time on Instagram tend to be extremely anxious. I’m mean you’re constantly scrolling and someone else is always going to be bigger, stronger, richer, more successful… Or they’re able to throw fancier kicks. Long story short: it makes you feel like a big loser.

So you’re scrolling while you’re envying others lives. How sad is that? You don’t know these people. They’re showboating on Instagram to get a ton of likes. They could be miserable for all you know. They could be facing severe depression. Or their whole self- esteem could be bound to social media.

Stop envying others and focus on yourself. That’s more than enough. I don’t care what other people do. I don’t have time for that. Well, I do but I don’t want to make time for it. I barely even watch when people tag me into something. I don’t want to live in a fake reality as most people do.

long story short: Your feed is feeding you nothing but insecurities.

Social media kills your happiness.

You can’t be happy if you waste all of your time. Just try to binge-watch a show or some movies or scroll down your feed. Sure it kills time but it kills your happiness as well. You can’t be happy if you’re not productive. Productivity leads to increased energy levels and thus a better overall feeling. Set a goal and get after it. Start a blog, get into shape, practice a sport and get into competition. You can do so many great things and you’re just sitting on the couch while you’re bored. You’re stuck in your comfort zone and it’ll decrease your happiness over time. Growth equals happiness and growth occurs just outside your comfort zone.

I seriously wonder how people can be bored in this day and age. It must be a gift and I’m not gifted.

Social media kills your relationship.

I noticed that a lot of people like to focus on others. Those are the ones who spend a lot of time on social media as well. They’re envying the present from others or how others spend their Valentine’s day. Let me share with you a simple secret: happy couples don’t have to prove it on social media. You just know that they’re happy. Empty barrels make a lot of noise remember? Never focus on others. You’re just acting dumb because you’re unhappy.

Couples on Tinder.

So there are couples who go on Tinder just to find out if they’re still as popular as they used to be. I would dump my girlfriend right away if she does something like that. I’m not a big fan of unnecessary drama.

That’s just a step away from cheating if you ask me. Why aren’t you happy with what you’ve got? Those couples need to work on the relation or break up and work on themselves. I mean a breakup sucks but what kind of a coward stays in a relationship that’s dead?

I’m not a big fan of Tinder though, I don’t even use it and I’m single.

Social media: so what do I do?

In conclusion: People like to live in extremes and therefore I’m going to give you a conclusion that’s easy to digest You don’t need to delete it. I never claimed that you should do something like that. How would you able to follow me otherwise? No, just kidding. Just use it in moderation. Make sure that it doesn’t ruin your life as it does with most people. Don’t come home just to spend hours on social media. Read a book or do something useful.

On the side note: hit me up on Instagram isn’t the same thing as a hit on me on Instagram. There was a French girl who didn’t know the difference.

Don’t forget to check out my book. The ones who read it liked it.
