Become Wolvelean instead of Wolverine

Wolverine

WolverineWolverine is in great shape you can never neglect this fact. There are tons of guys who want to look like him.

Over the years I’ve experimented quite a lot with my diet and eating habits. I was always looking to build muscle while staying lean and healthy. Most diets will get you lean but aren’t healthy or will make you lose muscle and cause a drop in your testosterone levels. This new way of eating is more enjoyable and healthy. You’re probably wondering how I know this.  Simple I did a blood test and the doctor said she never saw some so healthy.

Skip that breakfast

In this post I’ll tell you the benefits of intermittent fasting and why you should do it. But here, in a nutshell, some other benefits

  • you can do more in the morning since you don’t waste time preparing breakfast
  • you feel more focused
  • your creativity will increase
  • your body will become better at fat burning
  • improved insulin sensitivity
  • your testosterone will increase (study, study, study) and this has some great benefits
  • it’s more effective than calorie restriction (study)
  • your Growth Hormone levels (HGH) will increase (study, study)

There are more benefits but these are pretty amazing right?! I know this way of eating is pretty mind-blowing but hang on there.

Become Wolvelean instead of Wolverine

Let’s throw in some science: your body becomes better at burning fat because your glycogen stores are depleted. The body burns these stores to create energy. When these are depleted, your body will have to use another source. That source is FAT, nothing more nothing less.

But it improves more than just fat burning you said? Yes, your immune system will benefit from it. It gets much stronger when you eat less. I’m not saying you won’t get sick but it will be less often and less badly.

I’ll get a cold when the flu epidemic hits the country and that’s it. I can’t remember the last time I was really sick since I started doing intermittent fasting.

By eating less frequently you keep your insulin levels low and your growth hormone levels will become elevated. Your immune system will function at peak performance due to this.

Eating becomes more enjoyable

I used to eat six meals a day, that’s maybe fine when you are a professional bodybuilder but not when you have a social life. You have to meal prep constantly, always carry food with you and are eating half of the time.

Those small meals don’t satisfy and are stressful. I’ve been less hungry during the day since I eat two meals a day which makes it easy to skip on unhealthy snacks.

You don’t have the morning crash

The morning crash occurs around 10 pm or later where you suddenly feel tired, hungry and crave sugar. You won’t have this crash when you are used to intermittent fasting. You will feel energetic all day long. It seems almost too good to be true, doesn’t it?!

It detoxes your body, well sort of

This one is a bit double, it will detox your body but only if you eat healthily. You’ll still feel bad if you keep eating trans fats and refined sugar. You are what you eat is a saying for a reason.

Your skin will clear up after a while. As a teenager I had acne on my back, sometimes really bad. Even after I was twenty the acne wasn’t completely gone. Your body can detox itself because it doesn’t have to process food all the time.

In this study, they found that fasting enhances autophagy. Autophagy recycles the essential nutrients in your body. So basically it removes the toxins out of your body.

In a second study, they found a similar conclusion. Intermittent fasting-induces autophagy without the depletion of myocardial autophagy-lysosome machinery proteins. Another interesting conclusion was that intermittent fasting regulates cellular degradative, metabolic pathways and cell death pathways.

Side note: some foods (cheese, milk…) can cause acne; this is different for every person but avoid it if you can. Or at least avoid the milk from the grocery stores.

Hugh Jackman did IF for his movie role as Wolverine

In this video, Hugh explains how he ate. He used intermittent fasting to get in the Wolverine shape.

The only thing that I disagree with is that you have to eat 6000 calories and eat lots of protein. That’s the bullshit that’s been spread by the fitness industry just so they can sell their mass gainers and protein shakes.

There’s a Men’s Health article were a senior editor was skeptical about the IF and tried it himself. His mission was to look like Wolverine; you can read here how it turned out.

Bonus: You are what you eat

If you eat processed crap you will feel like crap. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to figure that one out. Clean up your diet and eat real food that’s not processed.

Yes, you should go for organic food; I know it’s more expensive than the food from the supermarket. But have you ever asked yourself why it’s so cheap? Your meat is full of water and hormones, fruit full of pesticides…Ever ate a steak from a supermarket and some grass-fed beef? I know what I want and it’s grasses fed beef and other organic food. Organic food has a real taste and it’s an enjoyment to eat.

Sure I eat fries sometimes when I go out eating with friends and sometimes I choose a baked potato instead of fries.

You will notice your body doesn’t like these unhealthy foods anymore; you’ll crave quickly for healthy food again. This is one of the greatest benefits of this way of living.

So ask yourself the following question. If people look at you, what do you want them to see? Do you want to look like Hugh Jacked-Man aka Wolvelean or fat Mac Donald’s?

Make your choice

By the way, don’t try to shoot yourself, intermittent fasting won’t help you heal this wound. Only Wolverine will recover from multiple bullet wounds.

Till next time,

Alex
