Do you tend to make New Year’s resolutions? I advise you to invest your time in something else if you answered yes. You’re wasting precious time and you know it. You’re just to lazy to act upon this feeling. New Year’s resolutions are for the drunk and the miserable. We all get that you’re unhappy but waiting for the perfect time to start is wrong. A new year doesn’t mean that you’re going to have a new beginning. You should start right now. Only lazy people procrastinate all the time. So get off your lazy ass and start acting. Just fucking do it.
I seriously don’t even get why people those resolutions anyway. Well, I actually do get it. People have drunk personalities who seem to get that they’re not so happy after all. So they make up some New Year’s resolutions which they eventually forget the next day due to a hangover. I mean there are people claiming that they’ll finally do a sport since 2013. I sometimes wonder if they still believe it after so many years.
Most people even laugh at their own resolutions when they’re making them. They stuff like “I’ll take the same things as last year since I didn’t accomplish any one of them”. I wonder how those people would feel if they would make a recap of their own year. Pretty sad I guess.
It’s never too late to change off course. Just don’t make New Year’s resolutions, those are a real waste of time.
So what’s the recap of your year? Did you even think about it? You probably didn’t?! I recently wrote a whole recap of my year. I shared 16 life lessons in this post and those were the most important ones. It’s safe to say that I learned a lot more but I can’t share everything of course. I was able to do this because I recap every single day. So I take a look at what I did wrong and what I learned. I focus more on failure, to be honest. You’ll learn a lot more if you focus on those events. Aside from that, I’m always grateful for the things that went smoothly right away.
I strongly advise you to take out a notebook and a pen to write things down. This task might be a lot harder than you might imagine. Put your phone in airplane mode and make sure that nobody disturbs you. It’s time for a reality check.
Are you ready for the Zero To Alpha holiday workout? I hope you are because it’ll make sure that you deserve your holiday cheat meal(s). I did this workout on Christmas Eve. But I didn’t train on Christmas itself and there’s a good reason for it. I really pushed the pace two weeks prior to the holidays. I was really tired after Thursday but I decided to push and until it was Sunday. On Sunday I did Brazilian jiu-jitsu in the morning and my holiday workout in the evening. I’m going to share it later in this blog post but first I want to debunk a myth.
It’s time to share some life lessons which I learned over the course over a year. I was wondering what kind of blog that I would write on my birthday and suddenly it struck me. I could do the same thing as I did last year but with new life lessons of course (read those here). You have to see it as a summary of my year. I just share the highlights of the life lessons that I learned because I can’t share them all. You have to realize that I learn something new every single day so it would be a pretty long blog post if I would share them all. But first I want to debunk a myth.
Have you ever heard of The Daily Stoic? Don’t worry it’s not a big deal if you haven’t. I didn’t know about the book until recently. I finished The Obstacle Is The Way and I suddenly started wondering if Ryan Holiday had written a new book. Turns out he had and he called it The Daily Stoic. People who’re familiar with this work know that he’s a big fan of Stoicism. Just like me but I guess that you already knew that if you read my post about Meditations. It’s safe to say that Stoicism is the operating system of my mindset. You’re probably wondering why I’m suggesting you read this book? Let’s find out.
There are a lot of people who ask me if I have a particular morning routine when I get up. The answer is yes of course but it doesn’t last for hours. Most people expect that I do a lot of fancy stuff but I don’t. We’re also going to take a look at the books that I’m currently reading or have finished. I read 6 books over the course of 2 weeks. That’s not bad if you ask me. You’ve got to read books if you want to become smarter. So why are you still chasing looks instead of reading books?
Do you work to live or live to work? Now that’s a hard question, isn’t it? This was a quote from a guy in BJJ after a pretty hard sparring session. I even forgot how we ended up talking about this topic. It’s a great question if you ask me since most people don’t think about it. These people just drift through life. They go with the flow as they like to say, but they have no clue where they’re heading. That’s what you get when you’ve got no sense of purpose in life. You’ll basically end up anywhere. It means that you could gain a promotion or a burnout. The odds are even and you don’t know what you’ll get. I seriously hope that you won’t face a burnout. It mostly goes downhill from there for most people. That’s what happens if you live to work off course.
You should focus on yourself and no one else. Can you guess why? Well, it’s because losers focus on winners and winners focus on winners. There’s a big difference between those two groups. The first group, the losers, spends a lot of time focusing on others. The second group focusses on getting better and that’s why they actually get better. They don’t have to come up with excuses on why they failed. Those people should learn how to deal with failure instead of focusing on others. It’s just a suggestion though. Now I realize that most people will claim that focusing on yourself is selfish. Guess what, it’s not.
Oh, by the way, I suggest that you read this post if you’re in a relationship.
Everything I do won’t be directly for you. Sounds like a corny romantic movie doesn’t it? Well it isn’t. Many guys would do everything to win over the heart of a girl or at least reconquer the heart. It all starts so promising but after a while the girl loses interest and you’ll be single again. I guess that we can conclude that you’re not an alpha male or that you made a crucial mistake. It’s probably both.
Do you invest or waste your time? That’s a good question right?! It’s all a matter of perception to be honest. I’ve met people who were convinced that they invested their time wisely. In reality they didn’t. Now we could argue about whose perceptions could be wrong but that’s just a waste of time. You’ve got to draw a line somewhere. You’re wasting precious hours if you’re constantly in bed because you’re “tired”. Most people aren’t tired. Their brains are tired because those aren’t challenged at all. Or you’re tired because you’re not active enough. That’s a pitfall when you have a desk job. Those bed potatoes mostly waste tons of time on their phone. They literally scroll their life away. They could swipe it away as well off course.
